Murder Suspect Dezhaun Dumas in Court for Fleeing Police
Phenix City Teen allegedly running from Columbus Police when he struck Frank McLemore
Officers with the Columbus Police Department’s Special Operations Division showed up prepared to testify in Recorder’s Court where 18 year old Dezhaun Dumas is facing multiple charges but they never got a chance to.
The brief hearing began in dramatic fashion with the suspect wheeled into court by deputies. Dezhaun Dumas’ injuries sustained after he slammed into an innocent couple running from Columbus police last Saturday night in Phenix City. A local Engineer Frank McClemore was killed in the incident and his wife critically injured
The Public Defender told the Judge there was a conflict of interest because that office represents the passenger in the stolen vehicle 18 year old Robert Fletcher who is also charged in connection with the stolen car.
Dumas is facing seven charges including two felonies…the most serious attempting to allude an officer and theft by receiving stolen property
Judge Julius Hunter did grant bonds for the multiple charges the Phenix City teen faces here but those are the least of his worries. Dumas will be taken back to Alabama where he must answer to a murder charge. Robbie Watson, WLTZ First News.
