Memorial Day at Fort Benning Post Cemetery
Fort Benning Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony
Memorial Day began like years past on Post at Fort Benning, Georgia.
About 200 Civilian, members and former members of the military gathered at the Fort Benning Cemetery to remember those who gave the last full measure of their devotion to their country.
The Fort Benning Cemetery is a prominent place on post just a stones throw from the gate on Benning road.
The Speakers today talked of the sacred soil and the blood sweat and tears in the graves beneath the feet of those who walk on the well trimmed grass.
One of those taking part in the Memorial day tradition was 90 year old Colonel Ralf Puckett, an Airborne Ranger who received the Distinguished Service Cross for valor in combat during the Korean War.
Colonel Puckett is retired but says he thinks of the Rangers he’s lost in combat almost every single day and will continue this Memorial Day Tradition as long as he is able.
