FCC won’t Take Action Over Colbert’s Trump Joke

FCC SAYS IT WON'T TAKE ACTION AGAINST LATE NIGHT TV HOST STEPHEN COLBERT OVER TRUMP JOKE

(CNN) – The Federal Communications Commission says it will not take action against Stephen Colbert over a joke the late night TV host made about president Trump.

On the May 1st broadcast of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Colbert made a joke suggesting Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin engaged in a sexual act.

The remark prompted a considerable backlash against Colbert, with many Trump supporters calling for the comedian to be fired.

The FCC said in a statement on Tuesday, the FCC Enforcement Bureau “has reviewed the complaints and concluded there was nothing actionable under the FCC’s rules.”

The decision was first reported by variety.
