Updates Aplenty as SEC Holds Spring Teleconference

On Monday’s SEC teleconference Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn offered a timetable on the return of receiver Kyle Davis.  “We do expect him to be back this summer, and we expect it to be fairly soon,” Malzahn said.

Davis posted a video on social media over the weekend indicating he had arrived back on campus after an extended absence as he dealt with personal issues.

Davis saw limited action his freshman season after coming out of Archer High School in Lawrenceville, GA with a 5-star ranking.

Georgia defensive lineman Trent Thompson has missed significant time as he deals with a medical issue.  Head coach Kirby Smart updated his status Monday.

“His shoulder is much better,” Smart said. “He is not currently enrolled in Maymester but not many of our players are. He will keep rehabbing and will be enrolled in summer school.”

In Tuscaloosa, the defending SEC champs are looking to replace several key contributors lost to the NFL Draft.  While most preseason publications figure to have Alabama ranked number 1, head coach Nick Saban says he doesn’t see it the same way.

“I don’t think we’re an elite team,” Saban said when asked for an assessment following spring ball.  “Probably adequate.”
