DRC Health Minister Informs WHO of Ebola “Outbreak”

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION SAYS IT IS SUPPORTING THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO WITH ITS RESPONSE

(CNN) – The World Health Organization says it is working closely with authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo due to a new outbreak of ebola.

The DRC’s Public Health Minister  informed the WHO of the reported outbreak about 1300 kilometers (800 miles) from the capital Kinshasa.

At least one of five blood specimens taken from suspected cases tested positive for the virus.

The DRC had an ebola outbreak in 2014; not related to the larger epidemic that year in West Africa.
