27-year-old Auburn Man Arrested After Knocking Down Police Sergeant
A 27-year old man is in jail for trying to take off in his car and knocking down an Auburn Police Sergeant along the way.
In a press release sent by Auburn Police on Saturday, they tell WLTZ that an Auburn Police Sergeant pulled over Derrick Demarious Bryant.
When the Sergeant approached his car, he saw a weapon.
At the time, Bryant tried to leave, according to the press release.
The Sergeant attempted to remove Bryant from the car.
That’s when Bryant knocked him to the ground and drove away.
The Sergeant was hurt and taken to EAMC where he was treated and released.
Officers found Bryant on Harper Ave. where he tried to flee again, but was stopped.
Bryant was taken into custody for assault, trying to flee, resisting arrest, and carrying a gun without a permit.
Bryant is now in the Lee County Jail and is being held on a $35,000 bond.
