Area Georgia High School Baseball Teams Advance in First Round of Playoffs

GAMES HELD APRIL 28TH

The first round of the GHSA and GICAA playoffs kicked off on Friday and a handful of teams advanced to the next round after sweeping their doubleheader games.

In 5A: Harris County beat Griffin 6-3 and 4-3 to advance.

In 4A: Columbus beat Thomson 5-4 and 16-0, Northside beat Cross Creek 12-2 and 6-4, and LaGrange beat Chestatee 10-0 and 10-0.

In 3A: Callaway beat Chattooga 11-1 and 6-5.

In A-Public: Taylor County beat Manchester 10-1 and 12-0. Schley County had a BYE in the first round and will play their first series in the 2nd round.

 

Some teams split their doubleheaders and forced a game three to be played on Saturday.

In 4A: Hardaway split with Burke County (3-0 loss, 7-0 win) while Troup County split with West Hall (1-0 win, 4-3 loss).

In 1A: Brookstone split with Georgia Walton (12-2 loss, 7-4 win).

 

In the GICAA quarterfinals: Calvary Christian beat Covenant Academy 10-0 and 25-0 to advance to the semifinals.

 

Marion County, Jordan and Manchester were eliminated after falling in their doubleheader games.
