Faith-Based Adoption Bill Approved
ALABAMA LEGISLATURE PASSES BILL ALLOWING ADOPTION AGENCIES TO DISCRIMINATE AGAINST GAY PARENTS.
Montgomery, AL (WIAT) – Lawmakers in Alabama approved a bill that would allow faith-based adoption agencies to refuse to let gay parents adopt children.
The measure prohibits the state from refusing to license groups based on religious beliefs.
That lets adoption organizations avoid placing children with gay parents by saying it’s against their religion.
The state House and Senate passed the bill.
It now goes to the governor for final approval.
South Dakota, Michigan, North Dakota and Virginia have similar laws.
