Auburn High Takes Down Central in Games Two & Three of Series
TIGERS HOLD POSTSEASON ADVANTAGE SHOULD FINAL SPOT COME DOWN TO THESE TWO
The Auburn High baseball team’s bats came alive on Friday as the Tigers claimed the series win over the Central Red Devils.
After losing in game one on Thursday, the Tigers needed at least one win on Friday to force a game three that would determine a playoff spot should it come down to that.
In the first game of the day, the Tigers were down 8-1 through three innings but wound up rallying to win 16-8.
That meant the second game of the day would determine who would make the playoffs if need be and in that game, Auburn won once again, 10-1. This win doesn’t count toward the region standings but does give them the edge over Central should a playoff spot come down to the two.
Central, Auburn, and Central are all in the same region but only two can make the postseason. The teams with the best region records will make the playoffs… if there’s a tie for that second spot then the team who won the third game of the series (in the case of Central/Auburn, Auburn did), then that winner would advance.
Central plays Smiths Station this Wednesday and Thursday. Auburn and Smiths Station will play the week after.
