Scholar Athlete: Calvary Christian Third Baseman, Chris Wright
WRIGHT HOLDS A 4.18 GPA AND WAS THE GICAA'S RBI LEADER IN 2016
When it comes to bringing in runs, Chris Wright’s teammates can count on him.
“Last year I led the league, the whole GICAA, in RBI with 35 I think,” he said.
The Calvary Christian third baseman is continuing his hot streak at the plate this season, hitting .453 with 22 RBI and counting.
“It’s a lot of pressure to know I kind of have to set the standard again at the plate,” Wright said. “So it’s a lot of pressure.”
But Chris is used to pressure.
His coach calls him a leader on and off the field for a good reason.
He holds a 4.18 GPA and has taken all of the AP classes the school offers.
Between those classes and year-long baseball workouts, Chris has learned a lot.
“Nothing comes easy,” he said. “You always have to work for everything so it’s really helped me a lot to achieve my goals.”
Like being accepted into Georgia Tech’s civil engineering program.
The school’s early admittance rate is only 28% and Chris was accepted in that select group.
“It’s incredible to know that I was accepted to go there,” he said. “It’s been a lifelong goal so it’s pretty great.”
