Your Monday Night Weather Forecast

The area is getting a brief respite from the severe weather tonight and tomorrow, with highs back in the 80s. All in all, Tuesday will be a beautiful spring day.

Things will start to change in a hurry Tuesday night.

The cold front that dried us out tonight will return to the area as a warm front. The warm front will usher in humid, unstable air northward from the Gulf of Mexico.

Thunderstorms may begin to break out over the area as early as Wednesday morning. As of now, the primary threat from these storms looks to be large hail and perhaps damaging winds.

As the air grows progressively more unstable and shear values increase, all modes of severe weather will become likely after the late morning hours on Wednesday, with hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes possible. A couple of tornadoes may be strong as high values of shear and instability combine to produce long-lived supercell thunderstorms.

The severe weather threat will end from west to east late Wednesday evening.

Much cooler and quieter weather is in store for Thursday into the weekend.

Have a plan of action if severe weather threatens on Wednesday. Know where to go and what to do should a tornado warning be issued for your area.
