Birmingham Man Shot to Death in Auburn Apartment Complex Sunday Night
A man from Birmingham was shot to death in Auburn Sunday night.
Neighbors said this has never happened in their small community before.
The murder happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Bedell Avenue.
That’s where they found 20-year-old Tyquavious Jackson dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
“I’m shocked and appalled it happened right here,” said Resident at Oakley Cove Apartments, Earnest Webb.
Webb has lived at that apartment complex for 15 years and says the residents there are like a family.
So, when they heard 8 to 10 gunshots ring out in their complex Sunday night, he was in disbelief.
“Just unreal. I saw a dead body by the stairwell and to see that in your front yard, it’s unreal,” said Webb.
Auburn Police said they understand how neighbors are shaken up by this incident.
But, tell us that this was not a random act.
“Anytime you have situation like this, you will have concerns out there. But, again this was not a random situation. The victim knew the acquaintance who lived at that apartment,” said Captain Lorenza Dorsey with the Auburn Police Division.
Auburn police believe there’s only one suspect who shot Jackson and are working actively to find the person responsible.
“It hurts. I feel for his family and feel for the one whose involved. But, if you did it turn yourself in be a man,” said Webb.
