Lee County Phone Scam

Individual claiming to be deputy is calling people to get money

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous calls about an individual calling people claiming to be a Lee County Deputy named James Marshall.

He tells people they have either missed jury duty or have a fine that needed to be paid or they will be arrested.

He instructs people to get a cash card and to give him the access numbers to the cash card, usually $500 worth.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Lee County Judicial system never solicits payment over the phone.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office advises anyone who receives this call to not cooperate and to hang up.

Muscogee County had a jury duty scam similar to this one.
