Strong Winds Rip Through Mid-Section of the U.S., Front Heads Toward Southeast

NO SEVERE WEATHER EXPECTED FOR COLUMBUS VIEWING AREA

The northern portion of a cold front heading toward the Chattahoochee Valley and the Plains later tonight laid a path of destruction late Monday night across parts of Missouri where the clean-up is underway.

One area that was hit hardest was a mobile home park in Wentzille, Missouri (located about 40 miles northwest of St. Louis) where strong winds overturned at least two homes and damaged dozens of others. At least two people suffered minor injuries.

A large gas leak also lead officials to evacuate the area of all residents.

While we do not expect severe weather for the Columbus viewing area, there still could be a few strong storms that pop up tonight as the front passes through. Brief periods of gusty winds and lightning are possible.
