Deadly Storm System Leaves Behind Trail of Damage In Eastern US

OVER 1000 SEVERE WEATHER REPORTS IN A 48-HOUR SPAN

The dynamic storm system that brought a line of showers and storms through our area Wednesday evening is now exiting the US after days of severe weather.

Over 1000 reports of severe weather including damaging winds, destructive hail, and deadly tornadoes were reported in a 48 hour span.

Golf ball-sized hail was reported as close as Chilton County, Alabama, but the storms began to weaken as they moved into the Chattahoochee Valley.

The storm system brought damaging winds to downtown Nashville, widespread damage to areas of Kentucky, and multiple EF3 tornadoes as far north as Illinois.

High pressure is settling into all these areas now, including here in the Chattahoochee Valley, and will bring quiet and cool conditions through the remainder of the week.
