Woman Celebrates 100th Birthday in Columbus

A Columbus woman reached a milestone Wednesday when she turned 100.

COLUMBUS, GA (WLTZ) — A Columbus woman reached a milestone Wednesday when she turned 100.

Eleanor Tanner celebrated her century-old birthday with family and friends at the Gardens at Calvary.

She was surrounded with gifts, cake and showered with love.

Tanner is a veteran of World War 2 — serving in the Women’s Army Corps.

Her family said living through old age was common in their bloodline, but for Eleanor, reaching 100 years was especially special.

“She had a stroke years ago and she’s blossomed in the last couple of years,” said family member, Gerald Tanner. “She’s basically put the stroke behind her and she’s just created a miracle us.”

Mrs. Tanner said she loves to watch NASCAR, collect watches and keep herself looking pretty with some of the latest styles.
