LTG Hal Moore Remembered
A legendary military leader is laid to rest at Fort Benning Georgia.
LTG Hal Moore was remembered in a memorial service at the National Infantry Museum at Ft. Benning.
Moore was a 32 year veteran of the U.S. Army who distinguished himself in the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Most notably as a LTC commanding the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry fighting and winning the first major battle in the Vietnam war against a much larger force.
LTC More finished first in his class at West Point. He was decorated seven times for Valor in combat garnering respect and admiration from his fellow soldiers.
In 1981 More and his best friend Joe Galloway authored a best selling book entitled ” We Were Soldiers Once…and Young.”
In 2002 the book was the basis of an acclaimed movie, We were Soldiers. Mel Gibson portrayed Moore.
LTG Moore is buried at the Ft. Benning Post Cemetery.
