Carver, Shaw boys and girls win area tournament games, seeds set for State Tourney

The 1-AAAA area basketball tournament wrapped up on Friday and the seeds have been set for next week’s State Tournament.

The Shaw girls beat Americus-Sumter, 60-54 in the girls consolation game. Shaw will be a #3 seed while Americus-Sumter will be a #4 seed. Both will play their first round games on the road.

The Carver girls beat Columbus, 54-53 after Mya Milner hit a game-winning three-pointer with seconds left in the finals game. Carver will be a #1 seed, while Columbus will be a #2 seed. Both will hot their first round games.

The Shaw boys beat Westover, 85-65 in the consolation game. Shaw will be a #3 seed while Westover will be a #4 seed. Both will play their first round games on the road.

The Carver boys beat Americus-Sumter, 85-63 in the boys final. Carver will be a #1 seed while Americus-Sumter will be a #2 seed. Both will host their first round games.

The first round of the GHSA tournament is set to take place on February 17th and 18th.
