Police chase ends in crash

Just after 9:40 Thursday morning officers with the Hogansville,Georgia Police Department were pursuing a vehicle on Interstate 85 southbound that had fled from a traffic stop. During the pursuit deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office deployed stop sticks on the drivers side of car. The driver then drove in the median striking a Troup County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle that was sitting stationary occupied by Chief Deputy Jon Whitney.

Chief Whitney was transported to West Georgia Medical Center for evaluation and has been released.

Three males who were in the vehicle were taken into custody and will be charged with various crimes by Hogansville Police and the Georgia State Patrol.
