41 confirmed tornadoes hit Georgia January 21-22, 2017

A new one day record set

New information in from the National Weather Service/Peachtree City shows a total of 41 tornadoes impacted Georgia between January 21 and January 22, 2017.

During a 36-hour period from 8AM on January 21 through 8PM on January 22, a new record for the most tornadoes in a single day and two consecutive day period for both the NWS Peachtree City forecast area and the state of Georgia was set.

6 of the 41 tornadoes were “strong” (significant) on the EF-scale (EF-2 or EF-3) including the long-track EF-3 that started in Dougherty County, southwest of Albany.
