Coin flip to determine 7A-R2 area host and automatic bid to boys Regionals
Smiths Station’s 67-57 win over Auburn on Tuesday night has forced a coin flip.
The Panther, Tigers and Central Red Devils all finished 2-2 in region play for a three-way tie.
This means a coin flip will be held to determine who will host the 7A-R2 area tournament and earn an automatic bid to the Regionals in Montgomery.
According to Coach Davis of Smiths Station, the coin flip will take place later this week or early next week and will be an “odd man out” format.
Since there’s just three teams in the region, the winner and area host will earn a bye in the first round. The other two teams will play in an elimination game with the winner earning the second spot at Regionals. They’ll play against the bye team in the area finals. That game’s outcome will determine the 1-2 seed for the Regional Tournament.
