Alexander Hamilton's personal papers and other items sell at auction for $2.6 million
(CNN) – Items from founding father Alexander Hamilton have sold for big bucks at auction.
Sotheby’s in New York says manuscripts, personal letters and other items from Hamilton’s desk sold for $2.6 million.
Among the items sold; an essay Hamilton wrote to future president James Madison, a document appointing Hamilton to be George Washington’s aide-de-camp, and even a lock of the former treasury secretary’s hair.
Interest in all things Hamilton have soared thanks to the popular Broadway musical on the founding father, “Hamilton”.
