Talladega College marching band gets sendoff to Trump inauguration
Talladega, AL (WBRC) – One of Alabama’s oldest private historically black colleges will be in the spotlight at president elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The school’s marching band is now headed to Washington.
Community members and school leaders prayed for band members at a rally before sending the college students off.
The band reportedly applied to play in the inauguration before the election, but has taken heat for agreeing to attend Trump’s inauguration.
Some 11,000 people gave to a Gofundme page, collecting donations for the band to make the trip.
The page was set up to raise $75,000
Over $636,000 has been donated.
