Daycare closing amid sleeping aid allegations

Daycare closing amid sleeping aid investigation

Huntsville, AL (WAAY) – A daycare is voluntarily closing its doors after being accused of giving students a sleeping aid.

The Department of Human Services and Alabama’s Hunstville Police are investigating.

A spokesperson for First Little Steps says the claims aren’t true.

Investigators say the vitamins in question were over the counter and not a drug or narcotic.

Police are still trying to determine if a crime was committed.

After news broke of the investigation the school says less than 25 percent of its students showed up Wednesday, forcing administrators to shut its doors.

Friday will be the daycare’s final day.
