Talladega college band inauguration controversy
Debate over Talladega College band in the inaugural parade.
Birmingham, AL (WIAT) – The president of Talladega college is deciding if the school’s marching band will attend Donald Trump’s inaugural parade.
Alabama’s oldest, private, historically African-American school has already accepted an invitation to perform.
But that decision was met with backlash, with one alum starting a petition for the school to withdraw.
The petition’s creator said, “In view of his behavior and comments I strongly do not want Talladega college to give the appearance of supporting him.”
However, a different petition supports participating, stating “this parade is not about politics… but seeing first hand the process of a transition.”
Talladega’s director for PR says the president has not made a final decision.
