Georgia beats TCU 31-23, wins Liberty Bowl
The Georgia Bulldogs capped off 2016 with a win in the Liberty Bowl. The Dawgs beat the Horned Frogs 31-23 to win their 30th bowl game in program history and end the season with an 8-5 record.
UGA started the scoring after Sony Michel scored on a four yard run to take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. TCU scored the next couple of points though adding a field goal and a Kenny Hill QB keep following a fumble recovery. They led it 9-7 after the first quarter.
TCU added on in the second quarter but the Dawgs closed the gap after Michel scored a 33-yard catch and run to make it a 16-14 TCU game at the half.
The Dawgs came out hot in the third quarter after Jacob Eason found Javon Wims from four yards out to put the Dawgs on top, 21-16 but TCU responded after John Diarse caught a 9-yard catch in the endzone to retake the lead.
The Dawgs though sealed the deal after a field goal and a Nick Chubb 13-yard score to win it, 31-23.
Michel was named the offensive player of the game after 126 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns.
Trenton Thompson was named the defensive player of the game and the game MVP after recoding 8 tackles and 3 sacks.
