Seas of red and black could be seen in Memphis, Tennessee on Friday morning as UGA fans cheered on their favorite team in today’s Liberty Bowl against TCU.
“What’s that coming down the track, a big machine in red and black. Ain’t nothing finer in the land, than a drunk obnoxious Georgia fan. Go Dawgs, Go Dawgs, gooooo Dawgs, sic’em!!!”
There was no shortage of excitement as UGA fans tailgated for the last time this season.
Many fans made the trip to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl. For some, the early wake up call wasn’t a question as they wanted to watch their favorite team play one last time.
“When we’re in Athens, we’re set up by 6:30 every game day,” said UGA fan Faye Banks-Anderson. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a 7:30 at night game or if it’s a 12:00 game, we always set up early.”
For other fans, it was a trip to spend time with family.
“We needed something to do,” said UGA fan Patrick Bradford. “My son is getting ready to go to Germany in the Army so we wanted to have a guys weekend.”
For business or pleasure, Memphis was the place for Dawgs fans to be as they shared high hopes for the future of the program.
“I see a lot of talent, I see a lot of potential that Coach Smart has put into there and established a great base and I think we’re gonna do great,” said UGA fan Robert Powell. “I think we’ll win a National Championship with him.”
