30 rescued from dock collapse

Savannah, GA (WTOC) – A firefighter has died trying to rescue some people who fell into the river in Savannah, Georgia.

One of the ramps on the city’s River Street collapsed this afternoon Saturday, sending at least a dozen people into the water.

Officials say the firefighter had an apparent medical emergency during the rescue.

He was later transported to the hospital, where he passed away.

Rescuers say everyone who fell into the river is now accounted for.

About 30-people were injured, including 13 who were later hospitalized.

But police tweeted that their injuries were minor.
