Book Drive Sets World Record

Fresco, CA (KSEE) A 9-year-old California girl’s 24 hour book drive may have set a new world record.

Danay Ferguson’s nonprofit "Reading Heart" and hundreds of volunteers worked together to collect more than 280,000 books in just 24 hours over the weekend.

People from all around Danay’s hometown of Fresno brought books by the thousands. Other organizations donated money.

"My first goal was to share my passion of reading," Danay said. "My goal now is to make sure every kid has a book."
