Miss Georgia USA heads to Baton Rouge, La. for 2014 Miss USA pageant

McDonough, Ga. – May 27, 2014 – Miss Georgia USA 2014, Tiana Griggs, 26, arrived in Baton Rouge, La. over the weekend to compete for the title of Miss USA 2014.

Born and raised in Monticello, Ga., Griggs always dreamed of leaving her small town and experiencing God’s true purpose for her life. At the age of 15 Griggs’ family moved to Decatur, Ga. where she attended Southwest Dekalb High School and cheered as a varsity football cheerleader. With the encouraging support of her family and mentors, Griggs graduated with the Hope Scholarship and attended Georgia Southern University where she studied Community Health.

In 2010 Griggs began her modeling career after being discovered at Dark and Lovely’s Ultimate Fashionista Model Search in Atlanta. Winning the multi-state modeling competition and being featured in Essence Magazine gave Griggs the drive she needed to pursue a career in beauty and entertainment. With high hopes for her future endeavors and with faith as her foundation, Griggs continues to pursue a career in modeling and acting. Griggs plans to use her platform to promote female empowerment and encourage others to live with purpose.

“Tiana is an excellent example of the young women we have had the honor of sending to the Miss USA Pageant to represent our state and organization,” pageant director Kim Greenwood said. “She embodies poise, intelligence, class and beauty, and those qualities will take her far.”

Upon arrival in Baton Rouge, La. each of the 51 contestants will participate in a series of rigorous rehearsals, interviews and fittings. The top 10 will compete in the swim wear and formal wear segment , and the top five will then advance to the short question and answer segment.
