Since it has been raining off and on the last several days and unfortunately that's when a lot of us will remember we need new windshield wipers.
Wipes look kind of complicated, but, the manufacturers have actually made the process a simple one.
You'll buy windshield wipers for the model and year of your car, but, they are basically the same when it comes to taking them off and putting them on.
Just pull them away from the windshield, carefully, you don't want them to pop back on you because they're held in place with a big spring, it could scratch the windshield or give you a hairline crack.
Then, you'll either push a button or pull a tab to release it. Then, there a big hook that holds the two main parts together. Pull the old blade from the hook and get ready to do the opposite to install a new one.
What usually happens is the rubber wears out and you're getting metal scraping metal on your windshield, which can leave some pretty ugly scratches.
Then you'll install the new blade. Again the big hook goes up inside and back into place. Make sure the blade snaps into place or it will come loose when you turn it on and in less than ten minutes its out with the old and on with the new.
Wiper blades are like most things. They come in different prices which can range from $8.00 to $20.00 or more and you don't have to buy both of them. You can actually replace them one at a time.
If you've never changed them, you're probably a little intimidated, but, don't be. It's a quick fix.
