Monroe College and Ovation Corporate Travel Partner to Form Academy Offering Travel Consultant Training Program for Entry-Level Employees

10-Week Program Provides Employment Opportunity With Ovation as a Junior Travel Consultant

Monroe College, a national leader in urban and international education, today announced that its School of Hospitality Management and the Culinary Arts has partnered with Ovation Corporate Travel to form the Ovation Academy, which will offer a state-of-the-art travel consultant training program for entry-level employees. Courses will be held at Monroes Bronx campus three nights a week for ten weeks, beginning July 21.

The academy offers five courses, including customer service, geography and the travel industry, salesmanship and corporate protocols, and Sabre, which will provide training in the travel management software as it is administered through Sabre Travel Network. Students will receive a total of 75 instructional hours by Monroe professors, in addition to 50 hours of online self-study training in the Sabre program, overseen by Ovations instructor for on-site support. Students will receive a certificate of completion for each module at the end of the 10 weeks and an opportunity for employment with Ovation as a Junior Travel Consultant.

Ovation Academy provides a solid groundwork for students seeking employment as a professional consultant in the travel hospitality industry by helping them to master the essential Sabre software and facilitating a sound understanding of the requisite customer service and sales skills, said Carol Genese, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Monroe. This partnership signifies our ongoing commitment to developing advantageous opportunities and programs for students that lead them to future careers.
