The Dental Office of Dr. Kvitko and Associates is hosting Dentistry From The Heart, an event that will provide the local community with a unique opportunity to get free dental care, on September 12, 2014.
This event is an international initiative that Dr. Vincent J. Monticciolo proposed 14 years ago and is now spreading into the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. Each year, dozens of dental practices volunteer to donate their time and resources to offer free dental care for those who cannot secure it.
According to the Ohio Department of Health nearly 45 percent of adults in Ohio don’t have dental insurance, and on average 20 percent of Fairfield and Franklin county adult residents have unmet dental care needs. These numbers raise a big concern among health professionals because, according to recent studies, poor oral hygiene is tied to cancer-linked viruses and other life-threatening health conditions.
“I cannot stress enough how important it is to take proper care of your teeth,” says Dr. Bryan Kvitko, who has taken a pledge to educate his audience on different dental health issues and preventative measures through his Dentally Speaking Radio Show.
“However, I understand that in the current economic situation a lot of families in Ohio are facing the tough choice of putting food on their plates or paying for dental insurance. That is why I believe that helping those in need not only improves their lifestyles, but also benefits us all as we are building a healthy society.”
In fact, Dr. Kvitko has been participating in multiple altruistic initiatives and has created his own charitable fund. One of his projects received national media attention after he volunteered to provide a full smile makeover to the man with the golden voice.
“Giving back is not something that is really hard to do,” says Kvitko. “When you invest your time into helping those in need, it is always rewarding in so many different ways.”
More than 80,000 people around the world have already benefitted from Dentistry From The Heart events, and the number is growing. While this event is open to everyone in need of dental care, the capacity of dental practices sometimes cannot accommodate the demand. The Dental Office of Dr. Kvitko and Associates recommends showing up in advance to ensure a spot as the care will be provided on a “first come, first served” basis.
“We are very excited for this event and are looking forward to seeing smiles that we will put back on our patients’ faces,” said Desiree, the office’s patient coordinator.
The event will take place at the dental office of Dr. Kvitko located at 4308 N High St, Columbus, Ohio from 7 am to 4 pm. For more information, visit Dentistry From The Heart’s website or call Dr. Kvitko’s dental office.
