Washington, D.C. (NBC News) - General Motors CEO Mary Barra testified Tuesday about her company's recall of millions of cars, and the 13 deaths blamed on the defect behind that recall.
Barra said she was "deeply sorry" and said GM is working to establish a compensation fund for victims of crashes caused by faulty ignition switches.
Nearly 2.6 million vehicles have been recalled.
Congress is working to determine why the recall wasn't announced sooner.
