PRESS INFORMATION

3/6/2014

• Identity Theft occurred at 200 South Sixth Street (Lewis Cooper Library) between 3/3/2014 (10:30 AM) and 3/5/2014 (11:04 AM). Victim reported filing her taxes and was later informed her filing was declined due to someone else using her information on another tax return. The victim has no idea how someone was able to obtain her information. There are no suspects and the case is under investigation.

• Theft of Property occurred in the 2000 block of Third Avenue on 3/4/2014 between (5:00 PM) and (8:00 PM). Victim reported someone stole approximately 40 pills from her prescription medication bottle. According to the victim there were several people in the residence besides the victim during the theft. The case is under investigation.

• Burglary and Theft of Property occurred in the 2100 block of Stone Street between 1/1/2014 (1:00 AM) and 3/5/2014 (12:20 PM). Victim reported someone forcibly entered a storage shed on his property and stole an oven and a dinette set along with a glass table top and chairs. There are no suspects and the case is under investigation.

• Identity Theft occurred in the 500 block of Crawford Road between 2/1/2014 (9:00 AM) and 2/28/2014 (6:00 PM). Victim reported filing her taxes and was later informed her filing was declined because her social security number had been used on another tax return. There is a suspect and the case is under investigation.

• John Darrell Clark, age 50 of Opelika, was arrested for an outstanding warrant in the 100 block of South 4th Street on 3/5/2014 (2:40 PM) and charged with Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle.

• Theft of Property occurred at 2640 Enterprise Drive (Target) between 1/4/2014 (8:00 AM) and 3/5/2014 (8:33 PM). Complainant reported an internal theft made by an employee for approximately $750.00. There is a suspect and the case is under investigation.

• Burglary and Theft of Property occurred in the 400 block of North 16th Street on 3/5/2014 between (7:40 PM) and (8:32 PM). Victim reported someone forcibly entered her residence by breaking a window and stole an Emerson 50-inch flat screen television. There are no suspects and the case is under investigation.
