SCHOOL/BUSINESS CLOSINGS

MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

MCSD will delay all school start times (elementary, middle, and high schools) by two hours on Thursday, February 13. Administrative office openings will also be delayed by two hours for all employees on Thursday, February 13. Crossing guards will also delay reporting to work by 2 hours.  All buses will run two hours later than the normal scheduled pick-up time. Sack breakfast and regular lunch will be served at all schools.  We have also been notified that the Columbus Parks and Recreation Before School Program is canceled for Thursday morning.  The Columbus Parks and Recreation After School program will be in session Thursday afternoon. All after school activities and events are still scheduled unless otherwise notified of cancellation.

 

OPELIKA CITY SCHOOLS

Will be closed on Thursday, February 13, 2014 due to inclement weather.  Friday, February 14 will be a regular school day.

 

AUBURN CITY SCHOOLS

Will be closed on Thursday, February 13, 2014 due to inclement weather and possible hazardous road conditions.

 

LEE COUNTY SCHOOLS

Lee County Schools will be closed on Thursday,  February 13, due to inclement weather and potentially hazardous road conditions throughout Lee County

 

COLUMBUS CONSOLIDATED GOVERNMENT

CCG delay opening on Thursday February 13, 2014 until 12:00 noon.  All employees "except" emergency and essential personnel (at department head's discretion) will report to work at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 13, 2014.

The following health departments in the West Central Health District will be CLOSED on Thursday, February 13, 2014:Chattahoochee,  Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee (Columbus), Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, and Webster.

The following county health departments are planning to stay OPEN on Thursday, February 13th and will provide services as usual: Clay, Randolph, and Quitman.

All county health departments in the West Central Health District will reopen for business on Friday, February 14th, 2014.

 

ALL OPELIKA CITY BUILDINGS will DELAY OPENING until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 13th due to inclement weather.  This includes the Opelika SportsPlex. All employees will be expected to be at work at 10 a.m.

 

TROUP COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Due to deteriorating conditions,  the offices are closed for non-essential personnel. Offices are scheduled to reopen at 10:00 a.m. Thursday unless notified..

 

GEORGIA SOUTHWESTERN STATE UNIVERSITY

Will delay opening until 11 am Thursday, but remains open today. Their Pre-K program will also open at 11 a.m. Thursday.

 

CHAMBERS COUNTY SCHOOLS

Will remain closed on Thursday,  February 13, 2014

 

CVCC will close at 5pm this evening February 12, 2014 canceling all evening classes and activities. CVCC will delay opening until 9:00am on Thursday February 13, 2014.

 

Auburn University cancels classes for Thursday 2/13 due to expected winter weather

Auburn University will suspend normal operations at 11 p.m. tonight due to winter weather concerns.  Anticipating a clearing of the weather in the afternoon, the university will resume normal operations and classes at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Tiger Transit will not operate on Thursday. Limited campus dining venues will be open for on-campus residents. Check the campus dining app for information on open venues.

 

HARRIS COUNTY SCHOOLS

The Harris County School System will be CLOSED Thursday, February 13, 2014  Please monitor local news media for updates and information.

 

LANETT CITY SCHOOLS

Will be Thursday, February 13.

 

MARION COUNTY SCHOOLS

WILL BE CLOSED ON THURSDAY DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. SCHOOL WILL RESUME ON FRIDAY  (students and employees)

 

TALBOT COUNTY SCHOOLS

Central Elementary-High Closed Thursday, 2/13/14: Students Return Tuesday, 2/18/14

Region 2A Basketball Playoff at Greenville Canceled : Rescheduled for 2/14/14, Friday, Time to Be Announced

 

MERIWETHER COUNTY SCHOOLS

Will be closed Thursday, February 13

 

LAGRANGE COLLEGE

Will open at 12:30PM on Thursday, February 13

 

TROUP COUNTY SCHOOLS

Will close on Thursday, February 13, 2014 for all students, faculty, and staff. All after school activities are canceled. Students and district personnel should return to school on Friday, February 14, 2014.

 

CHATTAHOOCHEE COUNTY SCHOOLS

Will be closed Thursday, February 13 including day cares.

 

St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School is closed today for faculty & students, February 12, due to freezing rain in the Chattahoochee Valley area.  Winter Break was already scheduled for 2/13 - 2/17.  Students, faculty and staff will return on Tuesday, February 18th.

 

VIRGINIA COLLEGE

Will open Thursday, February 13 at 10:00AM for students, faculty, and staff.

 

SCHLEY COUNTY SCHOOLS

Will be closed Thursday, February 13 including students, teachers, and faculty. All 12 month employees must report by 10am.

 

KINGDOM CHRISTIAN ACADEMY

Will be closed Thursday, February 13, 2014 for students and staff due to possible inclement weather. School will resume Tuesday, Feb.18, 2014 after Winter Break!

 

HALLIE TURNER PRIVATE SCHOOL

Will be open for day classes at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, February 13.

 

COLUMBUS WATER WORKS

Will open at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014.

 

Rising Stars Child Development Center in Cataula delayed opening until 10:00 a.m.

 

Spirit Filled Academy - delayed opening at 9 am Thuraday, February 13.

 

Southern Union State Community College will open at 11:00 CT Thursday, February 13.

 

CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY LIBRARIES

All branches will open on a 2-hour delay, at noon, on Thursday, February 13, 2014. This delay includes Columbus Public Library, North Columbus Public Library, and South Columbus Public Library in Muscogee County as well as county branches in Chattahoochee and Stewart. Mildred Terry Public Library (640 Veterans Parkway, Columbus, GA.) and Marion County Public Library are closed on Thursdays. All branches anticipate resuming normal operating hours on Friday, February 14, 2014. As always, our extensive collection of electronic materials remains available via our website.

 

GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR'S (GDOL) LAGRANGE CENTER

Will delay opening  Thursday, Feb, 13, because of winter weather conditions affecting much the state. The career center plans to open at 10 a.m., weather permitting, and remain open until 4:30 p.m.
