Columbus, GA- The Muscogee County Educational Excellence Foundation is congratulating this year's Teacher of the Year winners across the county.

During a press conference today at the Columbus Public Library, the Foundation unveiled all 57 Teacher of the Year honorees from around the school district.

The Muscogee County Educational Excellence Foundation is a non-profit organization that has  awarded more than $1.5 million to innovative teachers through financial incentives in the Teacher of the Year program, their grant program and their endowment fund.

Betsy Covington, the Chairwoman of the organization, says this is a day they look forward to every year.

"Just getting to see the excitement and pride of every one of these teachers as their names were called and they get to come down front.   They're representing their school, they're representing the fact that they are very good at what they do and what they do is so incredibly important to all of us here in Muscogee County.  The children that they are teaching literally are our future."

The district wide Teacher of the Year will be honored at a banquet coming up on May 1st at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center.
