CONYERS, Ga. (AP) — One of two twins accused of stabbing her mother to death in 2010 has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, falsification in government matters and weapons charges.
Authorities say Tasmiyah and Jasmiyah Whitehead were arrested in the death of their 34-year-old mother, Jarmecca Whitehead, when they were 16 years old. The two were charged as adults with malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault.
Tasmiyah Whitehead entered her plea Thursday and her sister is scheduled to go to trial in March.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports a juvenile court judge had sent the twins to live with their great-grand mother in Clarkston after a fight with their mother in 2008.
WXIA-TV reports Tasmiyah Whitehead was sentenced to 30 years in prison with 20 to serve behind bars.
