AUBURN, AL - The BCS championship game is the biggest college football game of the season. This year Auburn University will take on Florida State, and people are willing to fork over a lot to go to the game.
"Maybe a kidney, left foot. I've heard of people doing a lot of crazy things," Auburn fan, Phil Greene said. "All expenses paid for I'd probably pay a few thousand dollars for a ticket," Auburn fan, Kayla Wrolson said."I'd probably sell my car for some box seats or something," Auburn fan, Brandon Moody said.
But, what if you didn't have to pay at all? Erik Schuman from Fountain Valley, California isn't selling BCS tickets, he's giving them away on Craigslist. The catch? a job.
"I'm looking to get a new position and I figured this gives somebody an incentive to look at me when they might not other wise," Schuman said.
Schuman, a high school basketball referee who sells electronics, put up the listing over 72 hours ago. An idea he's considered a while.
"All my friends tell me one of my major assets is my resourcefulness and creativity and I thought you know we have a high profile event where tickets are probably going to run four figures and that's expensive and so this was just something where it's a chance to get my name out there a little more high profile and it's something different," Schuman said. "I'm marketing, I do things differently and this is just a chance to do something different and stand out one way or another."
Though some Auburn fans find the listing a little far fetched. It's something they can wrap their heads around.
"It's pretty wild. You know, money only gets you so far, but something like a job or a commodity. You know, you can't really put a price on that. I'd probably give him my job for some good seats," Moody said. "I think it's a good idea. I don't know if people will," Greene said. "More power to this guy trying that," Wrolson said.
So far Schuman said he has had a few hits, and said that it might be a long shot that he'll actually get a job, but no more unlikely then Auburn attending the BCS championship this year.
Schuman is looking for a job in either writing, marketing or management. He said if he could get a job doing all three that would be come true.
