Videon's app allows Google Chromecast™ users to cast personal music, videos and photos from their smartphones and tablets to their TVs.
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Dec. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Videon Central, Inc. announces support for Google's Chromecast technology with the latest version of its Avia Media Player. The app allows users to play, manage and share their personal media on the big screen using their Android smartphones and tablets including Kindle Fire. Avia lets users share music, video and photos with Chromecast or other DLNA enabled devices. In addition, it can find and play content from cloud sources such as Facebook, Dropbox, Picasa, as well as locally networked devices.
"Quite simply, the combination of Avia and Chromecast technology is groundbreaking. Every day we capture life's moments on our smartphones. Now Avia lets us quickly and easily share them on our televisions," said Michael Daulerio, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer Group for Videon. "Even better, once you give Avia permission to access your social sites and cloud storage, you can share your entire collection of personal media from a single app. From Videon's participation in Google TV™ all the way through enabling Chromecast, we are quite proud of our efforts with Google."
"While early Chromecast reviews were quite positive, several specifically called out the desire to stream local media and cast personal content," said Scott Kovesdy, VP of Marketing and Sales for Videon. "Avia fills this need by adding your personal media to the mix and increases the content available for Chromecast owners. We make it easier than ever to share personal media, and believe Chromecast and Avia will be the perfect combination for this holiday season."
The Avia Media Player is available on Google play and Amazon. The app itself is free. Current Avia Pro users will get Chromecast support at no additional cost. For a limited time, new and current free app users can add Chromecast support through in-app purchase at a discounted promotion price of $2.99. In 2014, the price will increase to $4.99.
