AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — An Augusta woman whose 2-year-old son drowned in a pool after wandering away from home has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Lisa J. Stocker appeared Thursday in Richmond County Superior Court and has been sentenced to eight years in prison followed by a 12 years of probation.

The Augusta Chronicle reported 39-year-old Stocker was initially charged with murder but the charge were later reduced.

Authorities have said the boy left home March 21, 2012 after his older brothers left for school.

A neighbor noticed the woman's dogs were loose and called the county sheriff's office. Authorities searched for the missing boy and later found him at the bottom of the family's pool.
