MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Republican state Rep. Leslie Vance of Phenix City has been named chairman of the Alabama House Financial Services Committee.
House Speaker Mike Hubbard appointed Vance Monday to the position that was previously held by Republican Rep. Steve Clouse of Ozark.
Clouse was recently named chairman of the General Fund budget committee.
The financial services committee addresses banking, lending and other finance-related issues.
Vance has been vice chairman of the committee for the past three years. The appointment will take effect immediately.
Vance owns and operates Vance Memorial Chapel and had previously been a Russell County coroner and county commissioner.
