VALLEY, AL - Valley police said it was a drive-by shooting that resulted in the death of 26-year-old Valley man Acquera Monquail Story and the arrest of 30-year-old Jeriko Martez Harris of Valley.  Yesterday morning Harris turned himself into Valley police, but has not confessed to Story's murder.

"He did admit that he had a rifle, and that he was in a white vehicle," Major Mike Reynolds of the Valley Police Department said.

According to officials, Story was shot in a drive-by shooting on Huguley Road in Valley Saturday night.  He was driving his girlfriend, who is also the alleged ex-girlfriend of Harris.  Police said the shots were fired from a rifle out of the back seat of a white vehicle.  Since being arrested Harris has admitted to officials that he and Story were supposed meet later that night.

"He and mister Story had some type of rift and had some type of argument just prior to the shooting. And, they were supposed to meet in a location in Valley in order to fight," Major Reynolds said.

After being shot Story later wrecked his vehicle down Cusseta Road, about a mile down from where he was shot.

"He was taken from the scene to George H. Lanier Hospital where they tried to save he, but he died from his wounds," Major Reynolds said.

Police are still looking for the driver of the white vehicle, which has not been recovered, that person also could face a capital murder charge.

"Harris did tell us a name, it could be a street name.  We don't know yet we have not been able to track him down," Major Reynolds said.

Police have not released that name or the name of the girlfriend who was riding in the car with Story when he was shot.  Police said the girlfriend suffered minor injuries from the car wreck.

Story's body has been taken to the medical examiners office in Montgomery, Alabama for further investigation.

Major Reynolds said police do not yet have a motive in this case.

Harris is being held at the Chambers County Jail and charged with capital murder.  Bond has not been set.
