MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Mobile County public school officials expect to decide whether to expel a student who was found with a loaded gun at Williamson High School.
District spokeswoman Nancy Pierce told AL.com that the student was found with the gun Thursday and was quickly pulled into the principal's office.
Officials have said a teacher found the gun after asking the student to tuck his shirt in. Pierce says the gun fell to the ground after the teacher's request.
The teen told authorities that he found the gun on his way to school. He was taken to the Strickland Youth Center and has been charged with altering the identification number of a firearm, and having a gun without a permit.
Officials say they expect to decide whether to expel the teen Thursday.
