AUBURN, AL - Auburn University Athletic Director, Jay Jacobs, is not worried about losing his job.
"I think I'm gonna be here for a while," Jacobs said. "I look forward to the challenge of taking this program to where Dr. Gogue and I and all other fans expect it to be. And, I'm up for the challenge and ready to move us forward."
Tuesday morning, Jacobs spoke to the Auburn Chamber, and discussed improvements
that AU athletics need to make. The improvements stem from an annual internal review into the department and, include providing a better game day experience and most importantly winning.
"Winning means everything to me but, I'm not going to do it at any cost," Jacobs said. "I'm not going to compromise our integrity to win."
All three major auburn sports currently hold losing SEC records but, Jacobs said he is confident that history won't repeat itself.
"We're going to get better. It's been a tough year but, I tell you this, we're gonna bounce back," Jacobs said.
Jacobs told the chamber that he understands when AU athletics is winning, the entire community is winning. And, said improvements in all needed area will be made.
"We look forward to continue to improve in those areas and, just ready to aggressively move forward and get better," Jacobs said.
Jacobs said they'll continue to self-evaluate to improve Auburn athletics.
