MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Hundreds turned out in downtown Mobile for a gay pride festival and parade.
Many at the annual event Saturday said they feel attitudes are slowly changing. Lisa Teggart said the Pride 365 festival used to draw protesters who shouted at participants, but that no longer happens.
James Weaver and Darrel Foret of Mobile used the event to celebrate their first anniversary. They got married one year ago in New York. Weaver told WKRG-TV that he would like to see same-sex marriage legalized in Alabama, but he doubts he will see it in his lifetime.
