AUBURN, AL - As most college students are preparing for summer break, Auburn University students continue their fight to save Auburn Aviation Management.
A program that some students feel they could lose.
So, students and alumni have a new measure of campaigning with an unexpected celebrity support.
Richard Simmons is known for being a work-out guru. But, in a youtube video he's exercising is his support of the Aviation Management program at Auburn University. A program that could face accreditation loss.
The video stemming from an auburn aviation alumni was posted last week. And, as of Wednesday, has over 8,000 views.
The youtube video is part of an on going campaign by auburn aviation students and alumni. Who over the past month have been fighting save their program some students fear they may lose.
"We can not let the nation's oldest continuously operating program go. It would be a shame. especially for Alabama who is an aviation state and we are the last ones here" said, one AU Aviation student.
Students say they've been meeting with university officials. But, no decision has been made on the future of a program that's received support from an unlikely celebrity.
Aviation students said they hope to know more about the future of their program next Monday.
That's when Auburn University's Aviation Management Advisory Board is set to meet with university officials
