Hardaway Baseball's Emotional Season

The Hardaway Hawks are hungry.

After finishing last in the region in 2012, the Hawks have clawed their way back to the top of Region 1-AAAA. Hardaway (21-3, 12-2) won an emotional battle for the title over Northside and Harris County, and aren't afraid to show it.

"We've been working all year," said Senior Outfielder Sheridan Coy. "Last year we finished in last, and this year, just a big turnaround to come back and win it."

"That's where the emotion comes from. We were very excited," said Coy.

"I get choked up just thinking about it," said Hardaway Head Coach Chris Gilstrap. "When you work that hard, and you see the results from all the hard work you've put in. The 6:30 a.m. workouts, the after-school hitting, the 2-on-1's, and then seeing it all fall into place? Words can't describe it."

But they're hungry for more.

"I want to win, it's my senior year," said Senior Pitcher Cedric Brown. "All of us seniors want to win."

Hardaway starts the first round of the GHSA State Baseball Playoffs this Friday, hosting Northgate.
