COLUMBUS, GA - After hearing four days of testimony, a jury finds Dominique Lowe and Calvin Denson guilty of murder.
The pair was charged in connection to the 2011 shooting death of Julian Hernandez. Prosecutors argued they went to the Plaza Motel to sell Herandez and his friends drugs, then shot him after a botched robbery attempt.
The jury began deliberating in the case Friday afternoon after hearing closing arguments.
Lowe's attorney Ray Lakes argued that his client was at the Plaza Motel to sell drugs that night, but was not involved in the murder.
Denson's attorney told the jury there was no evidence to put him at the murder scene at all, and questioned the credibility of the witnesses.
In its closing, the state re-played the phone conversation that captured the whole incident on tape.
