AUBURN, AL-Stickers, T-shirts, and toilet roll, those are items auburn fans are buying help to remember the final roll of Toomer's Oaks.
"It's important to buy the memorabilia and wear the T-shirt with pride and we're all war eagles" said, Auburn fan Catherine Cox.
However, buying a Toomer's Oaks item is more than just buying a piece of history. A majority of the keepsakes you can buy are benefiting a greater cause. Any item purchased with a special Auburn University tag will not only help you remember the oaks, but the purchase will also help Auburn University students.
"All the proceeds all the sales all the royalties from this will go to fund auburn student scholarships. so really a way of kind of making lemonade out of lemons here" said, Director of Communications at Auburn University, Mike Clardy. "We never asked for this but it's happened. The trees are gonna go away, but we can make something positive about it. It's a good day."
One of the commemorative items you can buy is the One Last Roll toilet paper. It costs five dollars, and a portion of the purchase will go to the Downtown Merchants Association.
Jerry Rigby has been the owner of Tiger Rags for 30 years. He said since last fall sales for Auburn gear has dropped dramatically, But now, as the last roll gets closer. Rigby said, he's benefiting from an increase in sales.
"This has been a new spurt that have sort of helped us. We're looking forward to having a better season this year" said, Rigby.
Rigby said they have been selling the commemorative items rapidly. A purchase that will benefit not just the Auburn fan, but others in the Auburn family.
